MARCH-APRIL 2010

Been a very mixed month weather wise going from sqaully winds to beautiful spring sunshine...and everything else in between. Went down to get the colts up here, and came back with the D filly Arianwen, who is jollying about in the field as I type. A very shy young filly she is fast growing a sweet personality and is very trusting due to my mothers sterling work with her. Show wise, only had one outing to date, taking the young mare Siskin, alas she looked like a wooly bear but is now almost shed. Due to the fact that i havent had the colt here, Rockstar, that put paid to several shows....patience is a virtue, so they say !!

All is well with the sheep and lambing we have had 50 lambs since February, the grass has started growing on due to the lovely rains we ve had lately so everything is starting to blossom. We ve started having more regular visits to the campsite too and and increase in walkers on the path. Daisy is out in the field relaxing after throwing grass splint and so will not be going to any shows until she has mended.

Colin (Colorado) will be going to his lovely new home in Essex in the next few weeks, will be sad to see him go but know that he will be in great hands.

FEBRUARY 2010

Rhonwen and Anna have now joined the others up at Alltycoed. 5 ponies are now up for sale and we are also planning the show diary for 2010. Hoping to get a good selection out this season including Bossy Boots, Siskin, Jenevieve, Bridie, Rockstar, and of course the long over due debut of the lovely Moondaisy. It all starts at Glamorgan Spring show April 4th....cant wait!!!

JANUARY 2010

Bit of a catch up !!!Wow so much has happened since we came to the farm, lots of tidyng up and getting more fields fenced for the ponies and sheep, as everthing was so "openplan". There are now 12 ponies here and a few tack ponies, which I think all love it here. Our little flock of sheep are doing well too, and we have started lambing. We have as of 1 February 17 lambs born, with another 21 ewes left to go by the end of Feb, then have a little group of lambs due March/April.

No foals due this year so we are going to concentrate on lots of showing this year and extra education for thos who have come of age. Will be covering a maximum of 3 As this year and possibly 2 Ds for 2011.

Colts are doing well and like little tanks, Colin (Colarado) is showing a great temperament like his dad and I think I shall be very sad to see him go. Whoever sees him first is likely to fall for him!!

4 more cobs coming up in the next week or two including the lovely old girls Coral and Victoria and Vics daughter and Grand daughter, Rhonwen and Anna.

MAY 2009

We now have 7 ponies at the farm, and all have settled in well. Carolina is due to foal soon and is looking grand. Two colts have arrived to Dulas Ceri and Crossbrook Jenny, both handsome chaps, chestnut (at the mo) with lots of white.

APRIL 2009

At last we have moved in the new farm. Not all ponies are here yet as we have lots of fencing to do to make good. Its a very lovely place, with people always passing through.

JANUARY 09

Very soon the ponies will be moved to theyre new home on a new farm near Cemaes Head. We will be joined by two more delightful little ponies in the form of a Section A mare and 3 year old filly. They will be unveiled soon....watch this space!!!

SEPTEMBER 08

We have had the great honour of being able to purchase a beautiful Russetwood filly to join our little herd. Shortly we will be gaining another little filly in the shape of a miniature shetland.

MARCH 2008

We have said our farewells to our beloved Dylan and wish him and his new owner the best of luck

Shortly after Dylan left we found a lovely new home for Catrin too. She was accompanied by Sleeping Beauty(The Blonde) who has gone to continue her training.

OCTOBER 2007

Whilst in work, Helen broke her ankle and had to have it plated and pinned - hopefully be sound by Lampeter!!!

SEPTEMBER 2007

Off we went to Fayre Oaks with three ponies up to Builth. Sold Jenny Wren to the Melchael Stud and then came back with a stallion, a cracking little horse with a wonderful temperament to cross with our small selection of section As.

THREE FILLIES IN ONE DAY !!!

MAY 2007

We a very eventful couple of days in may, culminating in us gaining three sweet section A fillies in less than 12 hours. Ceri was more or less to date when she foaled. An unwelcome visitor in the shape of a JCB entering the field to do some maintenance (totally unannounced), set off an already hyped up group of mares to gallop round the fields.

My mother got rid of the JCB and got to work settling the ponies back down and on seeing Sallie going into the throes of foaling , went to check on her. On glancing up the field to check on our old mare Jenny, she had the shock of her life to see that Jenny had foaled too. Both 2 weeks early. We are very lucky that all is well with the trio and they are thriving.

MARCH 2007

BE ADDER AWARE!

BLAENGWAWR LUCKY LADY (Aka Anna)

In early Spring these little snakes are very lethargic particularly on a warm morning after basking. This together with their venom being far stronger made for a powerful reaction. Ordinarily, the adder would have moved away. Anna was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but now fighting fit!

My 2 y o D filly hasn’t had the best of starts in life bless her. Born with underdeveloped lungs she had 3 months of twice daily treatment to help her improve (antibiotics, ventapulmin and natural yoghurt, and a fantastic vet).

She survived and blossomed but then went onto get kicked on the hock and subsequently put vertebrae out in her back and neck. We had a wonderful Chiropractor called Bethan Lloyd to massage and manipulate her back and limbs and she came bouncing back.

One week after re locating her to West Wales her head started swelling up, her tongue became distended and rigid and her mucous membranes also had a reaction too. Her vet, Stephen Harris was a great asset, diagnosed the bite after some detective work and lots of tests. Due to antibiotics, anti-inflamms, vitamin B, naso gastric tubings she slowly improved. To compliment that ,natural yoghurt and honey. We swear by it if antibiotics are used for an extended periods of time to improve flora levels.

Anna has now well and truly recovered.  She lives out and is growing well and looking good....

And look what shes turning into......
